Hand In Hand (Poetry)

Mi Amor

I went, She went,

To a place, a destination prepared just for us to meet,

Though I never knew her,

She went, a college student sent,

Planted by God, on a mission to shine,

I went, escaping the madness of life to a place of calm and solace,

I finally had my own, a place to call home,

Chosen were we,

I found my calm on a snowy February day in blizzard like conditions,

Knee high up to my thigh in snow,

But not even a blizzard could hold me back from my place of destiny,

Short in stature, beautiful jet black hair down her back, smile that could replace the sun,

Rolled into the place of destiny around about December, you see!

She arrived 2 months earlier than me,
I said, “this had to be destiny”, she lived three floors above me!

She never knew my name, never thought one time that destiny had chosen her to be,

But I understood the time was now,

If I was going to wake up to sun shine for the rest of my life,

I had to do something, I’ve never done,

I had to say something, I’ve never said,

When God presented me with a shot,

I went, She went,

We went together!

5 Places That Are Sure To Wow Your Gal Or Guy On Valentines Day

Delicious Is An Understatement

Yes, it’s that time again. No, I am not talking about Tax Season…Well even though it is Tax Season…But I am talking about…ahhh wait for it, wait for it, here it comesValentines Day!!!

Okay, okay stop sweating! I got your back! I hear someone saying, “But who has yours?” Hmmm…that’s a good question! I will have to ask my back but since it doesn’t speak I am in trouble…😂
Alright here it is, here is “the short and skinny.”

As we draw closer to that special day, you may not have had time to research some romantic and not so romantic spots for Valentine’s day. So, I took the time to compile a list of 5 places that I believe will be a sure hit on this Valentine’s day…

A nice brunch spot in downtown Annapolis MD.

1. Miss Shirleys

Whether you are looking for breakfast, lunch or just want to have a romantic dinner, look no further then Miss Shirley’s. A romantic spot nestled in downtown Annapolis or in Baltimores Water District (Inner Harbor).

This place will be a sure hit with your significant other, spouse or a group of friends. Miss Shirley’s has an extensive menu from Coconut Cream Stuff French Toast to my favorite Benne Seed Chicken ‘N Waffles.

A quaint cafe style restaurant with a retro feel. The average meal for two is about $45.00, no reservation needed but trust me planning is a must. So keep Miss Shirley’s as a must try on this Valentines Day. Miss Shirleys is bound to impress your Valentine on this Valentine’s Day.

From the savory brunch spot nestled in Downtown Annapolis MD to the romantic Waterside of the Baltimore Harbor you haven’t experienced romance like this Bar and Grille.

A great place to eat.

Not your average Bar and Grille...!

2. Del Friscos Grille

From Santa Monica, CA to Washington, DC nothing says, “Wow me” like Del Frisco’s. It is only minutes away from the Whitehouse.

In the heart of Washington, DC’s bustling metropolis it is a little side of heaven. Just blocks away from the Verizon Center.

Whether you are a Capital’s fan or root for the Washington Wizards, “Del Frisco’s” no matter which location, it is sure to be a fan favorite.

The Upscale Bar and Grille screams of youthfulness, romance and vigor. You will be the talk of the town with the vale right at the curbside for only $10.00. Please don’t scratch the skateboard…lol 😂

Dinner for two will run you about $50.00, but this doesn’t include beverages. They have a great menu that includes Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, Awesome Burgers and OMG Cheese Steak Egg rolls…
That’s what I said…But don’t knock them to you try them, you will be hooked.

So if you are a big Strawberry Lemonade drinker like myself then crack open the piggy bank and get your allowance.

However, hands down, Del Frisco’s is a sure fire way to solidify your Valentines Day success.

Next up on our list is what I refer to as the “King’s ransom.” This place is near Tyson’s Corner where you can eat and then shop for that lovely box of Chocolates or that Diamond Ring. Oops did I say that…!

A little taste of Brazil.

A great dining experience!

3. Chimas Brazilian Steakhouse

If you have never experienced a 5 ⭐ dining experience then try Chima’s. This place is a spectacular night spot but a little on the pricey side. Dinner for two at the “Taste of Brazil” will run you about $136.00…

This place is not for novest, nor the faint at heart. They say Virginia is for lovers. I took my wife here because no price is to high for the woman I love. However, if she was just someone I liked, Chimas wouldn’t be that place for us. “Would you like fries with that shake?” 😷

But with that being said, “You know what you can spend and who you want to spend it on.”

Chimas gives you full control of your dining experience with the keys to the meat locker. You are given a two sided card, one side is color coded green and the otherside color coded red. Flip that card on green side and say, “baby eat your $68.00 dollars worth.” Lol. You notice I never said flip it to red…

There are so many different variations of meats that are held on skewers for your chosen.

This night will not be soon forgotten. With Chimas romantic ambience, good food and great service you will diffently leave full and soon wanting more.

Great dining, good food and delicious cheese cake.

A guilty pleasure

Nothing yells vintage like The Cheesecake Factory.

I think this establishment invented the Valentines Day dinner for two. ☺ The Cheesecake Factory with it’s beautiful ambience and it’s ambitious scenery is a sure shot spot for a breathtaking evening.

The Cheesecake Factory is one of those places that gives you an all in one experience. First, you have your date. Secondly, the menu is extensive and affordable the service is good and the deserts are awesome. Do I need to say more?

So if you are looking for a great spot not to expensive and not to cheap then look no further then the Cheesecake Factory. Trust me you won’t be disappointed. Dinner for two should only set you back about $50.00.

However, it will be well worth the smile you will get from your spouse, friend or significant other when you have dined sumptuously at the Cheesecake Factory.

There is no place like home

5. Home

There is no place like home. Curl up by the fire place or by the flaming barrel in your backyard…lol. But seriously there is no place like home.

Your night doesn’t have to suffer because you chose to be romantic at home. This is where planners thrive and creativity rules.

No one knows your home like you do so use your imagination, be bold and fearless in your planning on this Valentines Day.

Here are a few suggestions for a night at home:

1. Call your favorite restaurant and place an to go order. This will take careful planning on your part. Make sure to allot yourself time not only to pick up the food but build in time to set up as well. “The element of surprise is a great companion to romance.”

2. Buy you some inexpensive table clothes to spruce up the mood. You can get these items at Walmart, Target or some place like Party City.

3. Get you some flowers. I tend to like Safeway or Giants flowers. The person in the floral department always makes the floral presentation look professional and beautiful.

4. Get a heart felt card something that really speaks to how you feel about your Valentine.

5. Get you some candles and some inexpensive decorations. I like Michaels or A.C Moore or any arts and crafts store for these items. You can find some decorations very cheap, something that says be my valentine.

6. Hang your decorations around the house this will add that element of romance and show your significant other you care.

7. Get you some sticky notes and write on them all the nice things you can think of about that person and put it on a mirror or a collage.

Well these are 5 places, done right that will give you that wow factor on this Valentines Day.

I hope everything goes well. Send me a comment? Let me know if this post or any others have been helpful to you.

5 Helpful Valentines Day Do’s and Don’ts to Safely Guide You Through The Holiday

5 things you should do and not do on this Valentines Day.Whether you are single or married these 5 helpful hints can keep you out of the dog house or the litter box whichever you prefer.

1. Don’t procrastinate:

OMG…This is one of the deadly sins of V-Day(Valentines Day). I will call this the first and most dangerous of the five Do’s and Don’ts of Valentines Day, procrastination . When we procrastinate this says to our spouse or significant other, “you are not important enough to me.” Also, it communicates a very clear message, I am too lazy to care enough about you to take the time to plan.
I have discovered in my experiences with procrastination “You snooze, you lose and the early bird gets the worm”.
When we procrastinate we set ourselves up for failure and also bad gift purchases.

Honey Happy Valentine’s Day. Do you like your new microwave I got it on sale? What!

2. Don’t make excuses actually plan something.

Nothing says romance like planning. Creativity on Valentines Day can give you major points with your significant other. This is something I learned from my wife…Babe if you are reading this, see I am listening… Lol.
Oftentimes, this tends to happen with married couples or people who have been together for awhile. We can take each other for granted and stop putting in the work that won the heart of your significant other. We just stop planning and take on this anything goes mentality that will surely land us in the dog house or litter box on Valentines day.
Do actually take time to plan something on Valentines Day and leave the excuses behind…well the dog ate the chocolate… You know Lady Fuzzy clawed my cards and they were nice too. Oh man I really love this excuse some people settle for it all the time. Notice I didn’t say, “fall for it.” Valentines Day is a commercial holiday, they only want your money. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah…are you tired yet, because I am worn out listening to that lame excuse. Haha.. Well if you think the stores want your money, your spouse or significant other wants to be pampered too. So don’t worry so much about the commercial holiday put your energy into making your spouse or your significant other happy. Nothing says turn off like excuses.

3. Don’t contact an Ex to keep you company.

Why rekindle a flame only to start a forest fire? You guys are exes for a reason right? “Desperate times calls for desperate measure.” What am I saying here? I am saying that as a single you may get lonely on Valentines Day, but compromising your self worth is a heavy price to pay anytime but especially for a day. So be smart and resist the temptation to indulge in an activity you will soon regret.
However, Do indulge. When you are feeling lonely and desperate get you a good desert. Yes I said it! Nothing relaxes the mind like a good desert, good book, great movie and friends without benefits. Don’t put yourself in a position to lose. Do indulge in a guilty pleasure though, a little or a lot of hot apple pie and ice cream. Do you know what the benefits will be to having not sold out? You won’t feel guilty or used in the morning but you will feel full…Lol…

Whats a few pounds compared to a lifetime of pain?

4. Don’t break the bank spend your money wisely.

No one likes a cheapskate but a Frugal Fanny or a Thrifty Tyrone is Okay. I believe the key to finding a good gift on Valentines Day is not spending a mint but spending time getting to know the person you are buying for. This will help you in the long run.
What if we have just start seeing each other? Good question…Just play it safe. Keep your gift purchases to a minimum, something like $50.00 or $60.00, you can’t go wrong there; furthmore, that’s enough to get you a card, flowers and dinner without sending the wrong message.
But Don’t be scared to spend some money. No one likes a cheapskate or a freeloader. So be prepared to show her a nice time but don’t break the bank it is only one day.

5. Don’t forget to celebrate you.

What am I saying here? I am saying, “Don’t let life define you, you define it.” Don’t sit by the phone waiting for it to ring, waiting on some person to validate you. No! Celebrate you regardless of who calls your phone or doesn’t call your phone. Love yourself! Know your worth! Unfortunately, during this Valentines Day season we can easily forget our worth all in the name of convenience and compromise. But this Valentines Day purpose in your heart and mind, that you will not allow yourself to be used or abused but you will be celebrated. You may be alone but learn to celebrate you. God has invested too much into you for you to live in depression and desperation all because of one day. Celebrate you because God made you fearfully and wonderfully in His image and His likeness. Know that you are powerful, strong, smart and you are valuable.
So on this Valentines Day: don’t procrastinate, don’t make excuses actually plan something, don’t contact an Ex to keep you company, don’t break the bank spend wisely and remember celebrate you.

Let me know if there’s anything else that can be a help and also if it is helpful to you let me know also.

5 Places That Are Sure To Wow Your Gal Or Guy On Valentines Day

A Valued Life Can Lead You To A Life Of Joy

Withering flowers

Withering flowers

One of the greatest lies ever told by man was, “Trust me you have time.”

-The Blueprint-

While on my lunch break I passed by a row of “Knock Out Roses.” However, what was so interesting about these flowers were just a few weeks ago they were blooming and in full stride.

But now a few weeks later, I walked by these flowers again that were so beautiful and captivating to the eye and noticed that they were now losing their luster. The peddles were falling off and some were withering and starting to brown.

Suddenly at that moment a scripture came to mind.  Peter said,“All flesh  is  as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you. .”

Life is so delicate and fragile. When we are born we grow up and become indepenent, strong only to return to fragility and dependency.

How unfortunate it is that we live in a world that continues to look for life in the temporal things…things that are fleeting and whithering away. However, I think we must realize that life is not responsible for us but we are responsible for it.

I believe that any responsible person would build their lives in such a way that when the time comes to whither away, they will have more to show for it then just a heap of brown peddles (dead works).
What do I mean by dead works? Good question. Dead works are just that, things we have accomplished in this life that will not amount too much when our time has come.

God will not be impressed by the big body Mercedes’s Benz E CLASS with the dark tints, alloy rims…I know, I know I need to dream a little bit bigger but that’s all I can think of right now lol…Oh yeah with the wood grain finish that we drove or impressed by how much money we had in the bank, but He will be concerned about how much of our lives did we dedicate to keeping His will.

Did we focus on what would give our lives value or did we get hung up on volume? Did we work hard to fill our storehouses with His spiritual treasure or did we dedicate our lives to the overflowing of our earthly storehouses? Scary huh?

Believe it or not life is on the fast track. Have you looked in the mirror lately?…Ahh huh! You are not as young as you use to be?
So that which we thought was indestructible,(our youth) will eventually turn on us and become our greatest “Achilles Heel.”

But when you are living a life that can lead to Joy in Jesus Christ its okay, because we understand that the soul of a person is far more valuable then the flesh of one.

So my question, I will leave you with today is: What is valuable to you? What is it that has your attention?

So many people are missing the mark. The cross roads of life is constantly starring them in the face. However, many people will stubbornly pass by the true meaning of life, which is found in a true and lasting relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and miss the path that can lead them to eternal joy.

How tragic it is to have lived, only to have not really lived at all!!!
