May 6, 2020 Nehemiah Zion If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. (Genesis 4:7) What can we learn about Sin from this verse alone? Firstly, his desire’ reveals that sin is a person. Since God is not […]What I learned about Sin?
If you want heartburn try eating everything.
No matter what you do you will not be able to please everyone. So why try? You know coming out of last year I felt the need for detoxification. No, it is not what you think! I wanted to detoxify from people.
Yes, people. I have watched others, including myself, at times fall viticm to people pleasing. I have allowed some people knowingly and unknowingly to control parts of my life. It is one of those behavioural patterns that left me scratching my head. I would sometimes say to myself, “what were you thinking signing on to that crap.”
People pleasing can become counter-productive to your success, if not, checked at the door. I find myself becoming so irritated when I see people allowing themselves to become someones doormat for a, “that’s a good boy!”
I have witnessed over the years the destructive effects of people that have loss a since of themselves because they have allowed others to control their lives. Witnessing adults that can’t make sound decisions because they are so afraid of being singled out and ostracized is a sobering reminder, people pleasing is a destructive behavior.
Possessing within oneself the strength to say, “No” is a powerful and sought after quality in my opinion. To have ownership of ones life is a must. It is a sobering reminder that we must harold and respect appropriate boundaries for our lives.
I believe that if we live our lives to please God then we won’t spend so much time trying to please others.
So I have come up with my mantra and you can rock it too…,
“It’s time to detoxify.”
I have made up my mind that I will rid myself of hurtful and harmful habits and emotions such as people pleasing.
People pleasing can be extremely harmful to our mental health and self-esteem. You don’t have to look any further than social media to see the devasting effects of people addiction.
Likes and dislikes have become the new form of people pleasing and some people will almost kill themselves to trend in likes.
We have to combat and confront such harmful patterns of self-deprivation and ineptitude. We must begin to form and practice good habits of self-love. We must strive to see ourselves in a positive light.
How we see ourselves is so important to how we treat and let others treat us. Why should someone else respect you when you don’t respect yourself? We must practice good habits and detoxify our minds from the grips of people pleasing.
Serving others and caring for them with respect and love can be extremely valuable. However, when we allow ourselves to be self-serving trying to please others to please ourselves, we cause great emotional and mental harm to ourselves.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to see people happy.
The problem comes in when we allow other peoples desires to become idols to us.
For example: We can’t sleep unless everyone is pleased with our decisions.
This kind of behaviour is a problem. We should do our best to be fair to all. But the key is not to lose ourselves in pleasing others to the point of making idols out of them.
Stop waiting for people to sanction your every move. We must trust God to direct us and put the right people in our paths to take us to the next level.
Pray while you’re moving. Make a God sought decision for your life by prayer, thoughtfulness and trusting that God will not stir you wrong.

I really like the message. Peace is something the world no aspires to obain.
This blog post by Pure Glory was true and powerful. I have a saying, “Procrastination is the poison to progress. “
by Apostle Gabriel Cross
The Lord spoke this to me, “When you procrastinate what I am telling you to do, you not only delay your progress, but others too. For there are many waiting to receive their salvation, deliverance, healing, and breakthrough from Me, through you. Stop delaying the progress of My People.”

The Bible poses the question to every believer: “What fellowship does the light have with darkness?”
This question to me is one that is challenging, easy to comprehend but hard to answer. You maybe asking the question: Why is this question hard to answer?
My response is this question is hard to answer because there is a certain level of darkness that if we are truthful with ourselves…we like. There is a place in us, a behavior we participate in that if the truth could be told, we haven’t yet fully surrendered it to God.
This area that I am talking about is an area of darkness that we’ve allowed willingly at times to break our fellowship with the light.
I am not judging and please don’t judge me! However, have you ever felt like the Apostle Paul when he declares,
“The good I would do, I don’t do and that which I don’t want to do I find myself doing?”
This inner darkness which is not sinister, or destructive to others can and is destructive to our fellowship with the God.
So, what I realized is this when Christ died on the cross and rose with all power in his hand he gave us the power (Holy Spirit) to bridge that gap of separation and create fellowship.
So, what I have tried to do is understand that there is the power of darkness (sin) working within me. However, according to the Apostle Paul he says with the mind I have the ability and the power to override the darkness because of what Jesus Christ did on the Cross.
Let’s talk a look at this scripture:
If you want to read it in its entirety then it is Rms 7:24. However, I wanted to focus on the word mind.
In my opinion, the word mind is so important here in this text. The word mind reminds us that we have a responsibility and the power to override the darkness within by placing our minds under the control of God’s word.
When we allow our minds to be under control of God’s word we can shed light on the darkness that resides within. We can make this part of us that is not surrendered to God’s authority obey Him
But this approach to eradicating the darkness within will take a clear, concise decision by us. This decision that we must make is one that loves God more then sin, accepts that God knows best and has a try desire to be the best for God.
Make today the day that you tell the darkness within,
“No more from hear on out I am turning the lights on.”

In this passage of scripture the prophet Elijah was searching for peace from within. Elijah in chapter 18th had just demonstrated the power of God by calling fire down from heaven, killing the 450 false prophets Baal.
However, what he failed to realize is the Devil is not of afraid of the power of God but he is terrified of the presence of God.
There is a difference between the power and the presence. All too often we dwell looking for the power of God to fix us and our situations and when it is not given or doesn’t show up then we are lost.
Jezebel didn’t turn tail and run but she dug in even more threatening to kill Elijah because of what he had done. The Devil is not afraid of the power of God he is terrified of the presence of God.
When we plead the blood of Jesus it doesn’t bring the power but it evokes his presence and his power to do battle on our behalf. Elijah realizes that he in his power has failed so he flees. He asked God to kill him because he realized in his power he was nothing. But this is where God’s wants us. He wants us to understand that we can’t fix it or fix us.
So God begins to feed Elijah…And he wants to feed us his word. He knows the more we feed on Him the stronger his presence becomes in us. Elijah gains peace when he learns to listen for God’s voice then to seek his power.
It is in God’s small still voice that victory and peace is waiting for you.
Jesus said my sheep know my voice!
If you need peace today listen for your answer of hope and strength by following the voice of God and stop looking for the power.

How It All Began
It is 7:15 a.m and I am on my way to work. I make a coffee stop at a popular fast food chain. The weather is fairly mild. However, there is no sunshine just clouds.
I don’t know if it is the weather but today I wished I could stay home in the bed. It was tough getting up this morning. I got up on time but found myself getting dressed only to lie down for an additional 10 to 15 mins because I was so tired this morning.
I don’t know how you feel but this is my story. I didn’t wake up beaming with joy, I didn’t wake up chipper but my mood was somber, reflective and ungrateful.
You know the irony of it all was I felt totally different yesterday. I was motivated, eager and overjoyed by life but some how today I felt the opposite way. Today I felt repugnant, recalcitrant and self reflective.
Wow what a difference a few hours can make in ourlives.
But before I go down the road of selfpitty and woe is me Blvd…I caught myself. I restrained my mind from controlling my feelings and had to put some things into perspective.
If you didn’t know it proper perspective is so important for one trying to see life in focus. Whenever, I find my perspective skewed I but always seem to make improper judgments about things around. So I work hard to put life and situations in proper perspective.
The day Before I was on fire!
Yes, the day before I was on fire for God. I had just released to my listeners (who I am so appreciative of) a podcast episod entitled, “Building The Mind Of Victory.”
And the reason why I share this is I must be accountable to live the advice I give to others. This is a trait I see in myself and some people that I come in contact with. We can give everyone around us life saving advice but when it comes to us we won’t follow our own advice.
This can be a troubling character trait, not practicing what we preach. It is like the person that floods your internet feed with their content but never take time to read someone else’s post. This type of behavior smells and it stinks.
So, I made up in my mind today while sitting at my desk that I must have the mind of victory. I purposed in my heart that depression, selfpitty and doubt would not control me. I purposed in my heart that I would practice what I preached.
Just because doubt and despair speaks doesn’t mean we have to listen or follow.
So I am writing this to hopefully encourage someone today that is fighting the voices around them to stand. You control your mind, feelings and behavior.
Make a choice today to have a victorious mindset.
We are living in a time where truth and facts are extremely convoluted. Well let me correct this statement so that my argument might not be misunderstood.
It is not truth or facts that are convoluted but it is the vehicle of semantics and symbolism that has been hijacked.
We have so many people willing to drink the koolaid because they want to win the argument of better. What do you mean by the argument of better? This is a great question!
The argument of better says, “Because my side seems right then my side of things are better then yours.” We know factually that this statement is not accurate and it is empty, however; this point of view is used every day in the public discourse.
If we can speak alternative misrepresentations into the atmosphere with enough loud voices then we could actually curry favor to support untruths.
We see this type of behavior all the time on social platforms. People spin lies and though others may rebuff them with truth… lies seem to prevail. Why? Why doesn’t truth prevail in a social culture?
I believe truth doesn’t prevail in a social culture because truth adds a period to the end of social conversation. So people who lie constantly never want to hear the truth so they avoid it with all costs because their is a mirror reflecting their values.
Whenever truth is added into the mix lies cannot prevail because truth lifts up a standard against them. Truth demands transparency. Truth illuminates.
So my word of the day is Truth.
