Finding Peace In God

In this passage of scripture the prophet Elijah was searching for peace from within. Elijah in chapter 18th had just demonstrated the power of God by calling fire down from heaven, killing the 450 false prophets Baal.
However, what he failed to realize is the Devil is not of afraid of the power of God but he is terrified of the presence of God.

There is a difference between the power and the presence. All too often we dwell looking for the power of God to fix us and our situations and when it is not given or doesn’t show up then we are lost.

Jezebel didn’t turn tail and run but she dug in even more threatening to kill Elijah because of what he had done. The Devil is not afraid of the power of God he is terrified of the presence of God.

When we plead the blood of Jesus it doesn’t bring the power but it evokes his presence and his power to do battle on our behalf. Elijah realizes that he in his power has failed so he flees. He asked God to kill him because he realized in his power he was nothing. But this is where God’s wants us. He wants us to understand that we can’t fix it or fix us.

So God begins to feed Elijah…And he wants to feed us his word. He knows the more we feed on Him the stronger his presence becomes in us. Elijah gains peace when he learns to listen for God’s voice then to seek his power.

It is in God’s small still voice that victory and peace is waiting for you.

Jesus said my sheep know my voice!

If you need peace today listen for your answer of hope and strength by following the voice of God and stop looking for the power.

God’s Great Love

image

Life can appear to be overwhelming at times but take heart the Lord knows all about you and your situation.  God really does understand the needs, wants and desires of His children but He also wants us to communicate those things to Him.

You mean really talk to God? Yes, I mean really spill the beans to Him…Tell Him about the Wizard, Oz, Todo, Dorothy

image

There is no place like home

the Tinman…everybody lol…Ha,ha,ha but no foreal…Dorothy was rocking those ruby red slippers right? Okay, okay back to the devotional…

We can often miss how precious it is to have a God that cares, understands and listen to His children. Your voice really does matters to God. The Lord wants us to plug in and not just drain the energy out of our relationship with Him.

He wants to have a very intimate relationship with us.  So how do we accomplish that? We accomplish that by prayer, talk time and loving on God by our obeidence.

Prayer must be an essential part of our relationship with God because  prayer is how we communcate with our heavenly Father.  Consequently, when God answers prayer and leads us with His gentle Spirit  this is how our Father communicates with us mostly.

God has a way of sending someone by at the right time with the right word.  The Lord will speak rhema into our lives and when we leave that encounter we are so refreshed by that encouragement knowing that it was the Lord using that person to address our needs.

This is one way to know that the Father has heard us and cares about how we feel.  He tells us to be “Anxious for nothing but by prayer, supplication and thanksgiving make our request made known unto God and He will give us an awesome peace that surpasses all understanding.”

Jesus really does care for His children.  How do you know that you are His child?  When you have accepted Him as Saviour and Lord and believed that God the Father has raised Him up from the grave.

When we do this we have eternal life and also solidify that we are His.  So today put your anxiety, worry, doubt, frustration into the Master’s hand and He will reward you with peace.  God bless you…

The Take Away

Know that you are not alone in your struggles. You have a caring Father just waiting to hear the deepest woes of your heart. He is ready to trade beauty for ashes, joy for mourning and peace for your frustration and anxiety.

Prayer

Father you know what we stand in need of today. Help me when I am stressing and feeling hopeless. Always reassure me as your child that you are there and you care about what I am facing today. Give me peace and strengthen my heart in Jesus name…Amen.

Dealing with Shame (1 min read)

Great post. “Shame is real but Grace and Mercy is immeasurable.” Check out the post.

Armed and Dangerous!

This is a great article and filled with awesome foundational principles.

You Are Significant

No purpose is to big or small when God is in it. We often feel as if our gifts are insignificant if they aren’t gifts that propels us onto the big stage.

However, this thinking is not true nor is it healthy.

I love the spoken word or poetry as we use to call it. I have recently rekindled my love for poetry.

My poetry is Christian in origin but what I have discovered is that God’s Spirit speaks to us in many ways.

I find it amazing how He can speak to the psalmist, the musician, the preacher, the lay member and even the poet…All glory to God.

Because You Are Worth It

image

We must always remember in those times when the enemy tries to make us feel worthless….Just look to the cross and see how much we are valued.

Philippians 2:5-8, says let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and  coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the  point  of death, even the death of the cross.

image

Our value is not found in our accomplishments, our status, our race, our relationships nor our education.  But the true worth of God’s people is found in the one place, a place where many people run from and that place is in Jesus.

What makes the believer valuable is the God within.  What made man valuable was not the beauty of the creation but it was the breath (Ruach) of the Creator.

Ruach is a Hebrew word that means  breath, wind, Spirit.  When God put his ruach (roo’-akh) into man, then man became valuable.

I want to encourage you today to know that you are valuable and highly sought after by God.  So the next time the Devil lies to you and says, “You are not valuable.” Just look, smile and point him to the cross.

Jesus loved us so much that he died that we might live.  So accept Him as your personal Savior and Lord.  Choose life.

Possessing the Will to Win

image

The fight for our souls began the moment we were born. Sin, that nature we inherited from our father and mother (Adam and Eve) is innate in us. Adam and Eve who was the express image of God’s perfection traded it all to obey the serpent in the garden of Eden in order to know what it felt to be god-like.

Hmm…intresting the same action that caused him (Satan) to be cast out of heaven with a 3rd of the angels. Consequently, is what he deceived man with thus getting us thrown out of heaven on earth…Wow!

Sin is truly one of the worse things that humanity does best, it comes easy to us.

It is the fools gold of humanity because its yeild is only the fruit of death and nothing good ever comes from sin.

The Bible said, “We were born in sin and shaped in iniquity.” So that would explain why we who were shaped into the image of perfection, and who recieved the breath of life from our Father Jehovah now struggles to live in his image of holiness.

The curse of sin abhors holiness. Holiness always reminds the curse of sin that the state of damnation is not permanent in the Spirit.

The Bible said that, “God breath into the nostrils of Adam and man became a living soul.” The curse of sin can’t touch the breath of God only the flesh of man. So this should be good news to those that want to be regenerated in Christ Jesus.

Regeneration Is A Must

What is regeneration? Regeneration simply means to be Renewed, Restored, Revived. Oh my Goodnesses, I am getting happy right here!

Holy living however difficult is not impossible in Christ Jesus.

The Devil with great alacrity tries to wage war in our minds and fill our souls and hearts with filth. It is in the mind of the believer were we can experience some of the most fieriest fighting for our souls.

Also, it is in the mind were we can enjoy some of the greatest victories. Hallelujah! The good news is God didn’t leave us powerless, He made us powerful in Christ Jesus.

The regeneration of our souls when we accept Jesus as our personal Savior and Lord bequeaths unto us the power over sin. It gives us the power to break every chain and releases us from the baggage (some that was forced upon us and some we willingly sought after).

But are we really ready to win a winnable fight. In spite the lies of the devil and others this fight is very winnable. But are you tough enough? You should be because you have Jesus as your Lord!

The Bible says that we are overcomers.  James 4:7, says “Submit to God and resist the Devil and he will flee.”

So the question is are we ready to tell our bodies what they can’t have, and minds what they can’t think?

So the question is not can we come out from amoung these things…The question is will we come out from amoung these things using the power of Jesus Christ.

God bless.

Take Away

We were born into this world with baggage. However, though we have things that we have to fight daily, God the Father has given us Jesus and Jesus has given us his Holy Spirit to overcome the enemy. So use the power of Jesus’ Spirit and His word to win.

Prayer

Father in the name of Jesus please help us to discover the winner within. We know that You have given us power to be winners but forgive us when we have chosen the losing path. I pray Lord that you will bless us mighty God make us victorious in every weak area in our lives. We bless You God and we love You in Jesus name amen.

image

https://www.spreaker.com/user/8682846/taking-responsibility-for-your-life

This short podcast talks about taking ownership for the mistakes and gains that we have made in our lives.

We can’t grow or go to the next level until we are ready to own the level we are on first.

Enjoy and be blessed.

I Choose Life

image

What direction will you travel in?

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:26-28 KJV

Ask yourself: What am I going to do today? Will I impact my day for the good or will I allow myself to be defeated?

Make today a great day…How?  Find peace in the little things.  Challenge yourself today to look at life positive and through the lense of God.

There is so much pain around us.  There is so much disappointment hovering over us (some we can control and some we can’t).

It is my prayer that we can find that balance today…whether it is in the good times or the bad. We must trust God to give us sunshine and even rain.

However, the great thing about God is he knows exactly what we need when we need it. I can not say that everything will be as we like it to be. I don’t know the mind of God. I don’t know why bad things happen to good people.

But this is what I know is God has all things under His control and for us it will work for our good. So, trust Him in your trials, triumphs and your what is going on God moments.

Choose life in Christ don’t sit around in defeat when you have the great liberator Jesus Christ waiting to work things out for your good.

Has Your Christianity Stalled At Salvation?

image

Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion – it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ.

Billy Graham

Are you striving to be like Jesus?  This is a question I believe we should ask ourselves daily.  In my opinion, this question issues a challenge to those of us that are seeking to be more like Jesus. This question offers us not only insight into what we are striving to become but it also causes us to look introspective to see what is really in our hearts.

“We should always seek to be Christ-like in my opinion, but I can honestly say, I have not always lived nor sought to be Christ-like.”

image

Christ-like,

Christ-like,

Christ-like…

There have been times in my life that I’ve looked and acted more like Garfield the Cat then our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

I have been selfish, unloving, unforgiving, unthankful and even unholy. Like Garfield I have wanted my lasagna all to myself and if it was left up to me no one would get a piece.  But, I thank God for His patience, loving mercy and His everlasting grace.

God’s Mercies Are New Every Morning

God provides people like me with another day to get in line with His will.  I thank God that in my struggles to look like Jesus, He has never allowed me to fall to the waste side but He has always patiently helped me to my feet, wiped my knees off and said, “son get back into the race.”

Striving to be Christ-like has taught me to die daily. It has challenged me to take up holiness and leave unholiness behind. What I think is wonderful about seeking to live, love and look like Jesus is He teaches us that though we live in this flesh we don’t have to be controlled by our desires.

We will all have our struggles in this life; however, God has provided for each of us a way of escape from sin and temptation that has been sent to destroy us. He has left us The Holy Spirit that we may have power over our flesh. Thank God for His Spirt!

The Apostle said, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20 KJV

Wow what a wonderful scripture. I wished I had time to unpack all that is in this text but I would be writing for days.

But this scripture should give us hope.
This scripture simply says that we can actually win over this flesh of ours.  We can actually break destructive habits of sin and mortify the deeds of our flesh. See Colossians 3.

However, it will take desire, faithfulness, obedience and trust in Jesus that He has what we need to help us to become more like Him .

This is why Paul said, “I am crucified with Christ.” What did he mean here? He was simply saying that he made a conscious decision to put his ungodly desires in check (to death). They no longer had the power to cause him to stray from God. Why? Good question…because they were now placed willingly under the power of the Blood of Jesus Christ.

He allowed the Holy Spirit to help him resist those earthly, ungodly desires.

Now let me not mislead you here…Paul was not perfect and without sin in no stretch of the imagination. But the Apostle fixed his heart on becoming more and more like Jesus. So he worked hard not to allow Sins will to dominate him but inturn he would lord over and dominate his flesh.

We can catch a glimpse of how he thought here in Philippians 3:7-9…He says,

“But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.”

Determined To Live Christ-like

image

Paul said in 1Corinthians 9:27, “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” Read entire chapter…here

Paul took his body and forced it to obey the will of God. The Father is looking for you and I to do the same thing. He wants us to make our minds and bodies obey and submit to His will.

Look at what God says in James 4:7, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Read the entire Chapter here…

Beep …

Beep…

Beep…

Alert!

Alert!

Attention! Becoming Christ-like is not automatic but it will take work.

We must be so determined to look, think and love like Jesus that when we fail we will be so convicted, so upset with ourselves that we will say, “The next time this temptation comes I will overcome it by His Power, Blood and Spirit’ I will submit to God and resist the Devil and the Bible says He will flee.”

I believe that we must daily make up in our minds that we will be determined everyday to review our lives and be honest with ourselves and say, “Lord I didn’t look like your word today, I looked terrible but help me to do better” or “Lord I am striving to be even better today then I did yesterday, there is still more baggage I can eradicate in my life.”

When we truly desire Him we will say like Paul, “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound certainly not.”

When we change our focus and Jesus becomes our main priority then thats when we will begin to see a transformation of our priorities, principles and practices.

When we commit sin it will no longer be enjoyable, it will become burdensome because we have let God down.

This is a good place to be in. We never, ever want to be able to sin and say its okay. When we fail we want to be in a place of remorse, heartbroken that we failed God.

This is a part of becoming Christ-like.

Do you remember in scripture when Peter failed Jesus and denied him?…He was heartbroken and the Bible said, ” He wept bitterly.” Matthew 26:74-75. He had failed Jesus. Peter understood who Jesus had become to him. He had become his Lord and not just his salvation. Jesus had become his everything. Peter’s priorities, principles and practices had change and he was becoming Christ-like.

So it devastated Peter that he had failed Jesus. Are we devastated, heartbroken and remorseful when we fail Jesus? Are we so hurt by our actions that they lead us to our knees in heart-felt repentance…asking God to help us to become more like Him and less like ourselves?

Jesus eventually after He was resurrected reached out to Peter after He had been converted. Peter never denied Jesus again even to death.

This is my desire that I will follow Jesus even until death being faithful, being Christ-like. I want my desires, priorities, principles and practices to be entrenched in Christ-likeness and sacrifice to Him. I pray and hope that is your desire as well.

The Blueprint:

We should inspect our lives daily to see if we are living like Jesus. When we find something that doesn’t look like him we should make it our business to separate ourselves from that thing by denying our flesh and worldly pleasures. We should seek with all our hearts to look, love and live like Jesus Christ our Lord.

Prayer

Heavenly Father we are coming to you asking you to forgive us for our shortcomings. Father in the name of Jesus help us to turn away from anything that does not give you glory. We desire to live, look and love like you Jesus so change our hearts and minds that we will be all that you want and desire for us to be in Jesus name…amen
