Where Is The Love?

It is amazing how God ranks love over works.  We may be the best Deacons, Usher, Pastors, Singers, Servers and Churchgoers this side of heaven.  But if we are void of love everything we do amounts to nothing.

Wow! Deep huh? Lord, I helped little Katy rescue Ms. Fuzzy out of the tree. I gave my entire check to feed the poor. I donated cases and cases of water to Flint Michigan. However, I can hear God say, “But without love these works amount to nothing.”

I can truly say, I have been guilty of offering God works packaged in a box called love. Nevertheless, my box was probably worthless because it wasn’t wrapped in true heart felt love for God or my fellow man.

Do you know we can preach doctrine that is correct but be morally out of the will God?

Scripture tells us in 1John 4:20-21, “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.”

There is so much hatred in the world for our fellow man because of their skin color, religion, gender or ethnicity in my opinion. We should be able to disagree with a person on the foundation of the scripture and not harvest hatred for them because they are different.

If we are Christians then we should be leading the way in love.

Nevertheless, Christians can be some of the most hateful and mean-spirited people all in the name of God.

If our hearts are filled with this kind of impediment then we need to ask Jesus to heal our hearts. We need to ask the Lord to wash us from our shortcomings and then begin to do His will.

Love must be that which can transcend beyond the physical and impact the spiritual. The only way to possess a love like this is to accept the love that Jesus shows all humanity. Jesus loves humanity with a supernatural love. His loves goes beyond the limits of earthly means and loves us in away that can’t be fully comprehended.

We are the most undeserving people in the world. However, Jesus’ love covers us. His love comforts us and His love keeps us.

Jesus’ love transcends Christanity, it even extends to non-believers. However, non-believers can’t receive the free gift of life (Salvation). Subsequently, His love does offer them a chance to inherit eternal life barring that they (The non-believer) accept Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord.

You know…God is not like man. He doesn’t champion the construction of tall skyscrapers or super important jobs.  God wants us to focus on the hardest job there is…Love.

He wants us to love without limits.  He wants us to love our enemies, backstabbing friends, difficult spouses, pain in the neck family memebers.

Lets us seek to build a life of godly love. Let us aspire to please God with a love that brings him glory. Love that does not disqualify our works is a love made by God.

God is so amazing because he had to do the same with us.  He had to love the unlovable, he had to love the sneaky, he loves the rude and uncaring.

And you know what? He is still loving us today.

God’s Great Love

Life can appear to be overwhelming at times but take heart the Lord knows all about you and your situation.  God really does understand the needs, wants and desires of His children but He also wants us to communicate those things to Him.

You mean really talk to God? Yes, I mean really spill the beans to Him…Tell Him about the Wizard, Oz, Todo, Dorothy

There is no place like home

the Tinman…everybody lol…Ha,ha,ha but no foreal…Dorothy was rocking those ruby red slippers right? Okay, okay back to the devotional…

We can often miss how precious it is to have a God that cares, understands and listen to His children. Your voice really does matters to God. The Lord wants us to plug in and not just drain the energy out of our relationship with Him.

He wants to have a very intimate relationship with us.  So how do we accomplish that? We accomplish that by prayer, talk time and loving on God by our obeidence.

Prayer must be an essential part of our relationship with God because  prayer is how we communcate with our heavenly Father.  Consequently, when God answers prayer and leads us with His gentle Spirit  this is how our Father communicates with us mostly.

God has a way of sending someone by at the right time with the right word.  The Lord will speak rhema into our lives and when we leave that encounter we are so refreshed by that encouragement knowing that it was the Lord using that person to address our needs.

This is one way to know that the Father has heard us and cares about how we feel.  He tells us to be “Anxious for nothing but by prayer, supplication and thanksgiving make our request made known unto God and He will give us an awesome peace that surpasses all understanding.”

Jesus really does care for His children.  How do you know that you are His child?  When you have accepted Him as Saviour and Lord and believed that God the Father has raised Him up from the grave.

When we do this we have eternal life and also solidify that we are His.  So today put your anxiety, worry, doubt, frustration into the Master’s hand and He will reward you with peace.  God bless you…

The Take Away

Know that you are not alone in your struggles. You have a caring Father just waiting to hear the deepest woes of your heart. He is ready to trade beauty for ashes, joy for mourning and peace for your frustration and anxiety.

Father you know what we stand in need of today. Help me when I am stressing and feeling hopeless. Always reassure me as your child that you are there and you care about what I am facing today. Give me peace and strengthen my heart in Jesus name…Amen.

Possessing the Will to Win

The fight for our souls began the moment we were born. Sin, that nature we inherited from our father and mother (Adam and Eve) is innate in us. Adam and Eve who was the express image of God’s perfection traded it all to obey the serpent in the garden of Eden in order to know what it felt to be god-like.

Hmm…intresting the same action that caused him (Satan) to be cast out of heaven with a 3rd of the angels. Consequently, is what he deceived man with thus getting us thrown out of heaven on earth…Wow!

Sin is truly one of the worse things that humanity does best, it comes easy to us.

It is the fools gold of humanity because its yeild is only the fruit of death and nothing good ever comes from sin.

The Bible said, “We were born in sin and shaped in iniquity.” So that would explain why we who were shaped into the image of perfection, and who recieved the breath of life from our Father Jehovah now struggles to live in his image of holiness.

The curse of sin abhors holiness. Holiness always reminds the curse of sin that the state of damnation is not permanent in the Spirit.

The Bible said that, “God breath into the nostrils of Adam and man became a living soul.” The curse of sin can’t touch the breath of God only the flesh of man. So this should be good news to those that want to be regenerated in Christ Jesus.

Regeneration Is A Must

What is regeneration? Regeneration simply means to be Renewed, Restored, Revived. Oh my Goodnesses, I am getting happy right here!

Holy living however difficult is not impossible in Christ Jesus.

The Devil with great alacrity tries to wage war in our minds and fill our souls and hearts with filth. It is in the mind of the believer were we can experience some of the most fieriest fighting for our souls.

Also, it is in the mind were we can enjoy some of the greatest victories. Hallelujah! The good news is God didn’t leave us powerless, He made us powerful in Christ Jesus.

The regeneration of our souls when we accept Jesus as our personal Savior and Lord bequeaths unto us the power over sin. It gives us the power to break every chain and releases us from the baggage (some that was forced upon us and some we willingly sought after).

But are we really ready to win a winnable fight. In spite the lies of the devil and others this fight is very winnable. But are you tough enough? You should be because you have Jesus as your Lord!

The Bible says that we are overcomers.  James 4:7, says “Submit to God and resist the Devil and he will flee.”

So the question is are we ready to tell our bodies what they can’t have, and minds what they can’t think?

So the question is not can we come out from amoung these things…The question is will we come out from amoung these things using the power of Jesus Christ.

God bless.

Take Away

We were born into this world with baggage. However, though we have things that we have to fight daily, God the Father has given us Jesus and Jesus has given us his Holy Spirit to overcome the enemy. So use the power of Jesus’ Spirit and His word to win.

Father in the name of Jesus please help us to discover the winner within. We know that You have given us power to be winners but forgive us when we have chosen the losing path. I pray Lord that you will bless us mighty God make us victorious in every weak area in our lives. We bless You God and we love You in Jesus name amen.

Stay In Character Finding Your Space Between The Lines

I am reminded of one year when my wife (Nicole) took me to a dinner theater. It was so great. We had a beautiful dinner and one of the highlights of that evening was that the dinner was served by the actors. The cast served us dinner. However, though they were serving us dinner they never got out of character.

Just imagine the villain of the show serving you New York Strip with a big steak knife in their hands….Hmmm…Scary!

But for the cast to be successful for the next half of the show they had to remain embodied in character.

Stay In Character and Remember Your Lines

I believe that we should take the same approach as Christians. We must understand how important it is to stay in character. We may be faced with different challenges in life but we must work hard to remember our roles and follow the script (The Holy Bible) that God has written for us.

We are human and being human hurts at times.  However, this doesn’t let us off the hook for being rude, mean, vindictive and loveless.  God has reassured us in his word that if we maintain our integrity he will vindicate us.

Do you remember in scripture when God said, “Vengeance is mine said the Lord I will repay?”  God was telling us that it is better for him to deal with the situation of getting even with our perpetrators.  Why?  God wants us to be guiltless, pure and holy.  However, when we allow bitterness, anger, rage and revenge to drive us then we pollute our hearts.

God wants to protect us from such things because these behaviors become a breeding ground for Satan.  Satan loves darkness, filth and unclean places.

Remember this:

Satan will always show up and live in places that God has vacated.

The Bible says in Matthew 12:43-45,

“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none.  Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order.  Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”

So this is why God wants our hearts to stay clean, holy and righteous.  He wants our temples to be a place where He can dwell and also offer us love and protection from the evil one.

When we are the temple of the Lord then we have access to our Father’s love, power, authority, presence and protections.

Jesus said in Luke 10:18-20,

“And He said to them, I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.  Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.  Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

Wow! Because we are His we inherit the blessings of God. So this is why we must stay in character.  I know it is a challenge to love your offender, to be kind to bad actors in your life. But this is the will of God concerning us (Believers).

Now, I believe we must excerise some common sense as well when making decisions.

If a person is mistreating you (being abusive verbally, mentally and or physically)then you don’t have to stay with that person. But we can forgive them and show them mercy from afar. We can still show them the love of Jesus though we go our separate ways.

God’s Grace and Mercy Can Revive the Heart

I remember when I did something so stupid and instead of my wife just ripping me a new one she instead showed me kindness and demonstrated the love of Jesus. You can’t believe how just staying in her role as a Christian impacted my life. My heart was melted within me and that simple act of kindness and mercy made me want to work hard to do right by her.

She stayed in character and God blessed her.

Well, I could go on and on about this situation but I just wanted to leave you with this. Don’t let bad actors steal your greatest role (showing forth the character of God).

Sometimes God’s blessings will come in the most stressful of situations. But let God be the one to administer vengeance on our behalf.
May God bless your life tremendously!

The Blueprint

We need to pray and ask God to help us protect our character.  It is so easy to get out of our godly character in order to show someone how much they have hurt us. However, when we trade our character for mere vengeance we give Satan a place to hang his coat and hat in our temples.

Pray this prayer with me:

Father in the name of Jesus God we come to you Lord asking you Father for your grace and your mercy. Praying God that you will keep us from the attack of the enemy. God help us Lord to be better people, to be change agents for your kingdom. Give us patience even in the most difficult situations. Help us Lord when we are on the brink of losing control. Lord give us directions. Help us demonstrate control. Keep us from all hurt, harm and danger. Help us not to take matters into our own hands when we have been wounded and hurt by others. Lord we thank you and bless you in Jesus name Amen.
